Doug Brockhouse, partner of Bender Commercial, attended the December 2008 Chapter meeting of the Minneapolis Chapter of SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors) which was held at the recently completed Welsh Companies headquarters in Minnetonka, Minnesota.  Team leaders from Welsh Companies delivered a presentation on their facilities and their LEED Gold Precertification.

The presentation by Welsh Companies described all phases and processes that it took to achieve the Gold Certification, from the purchase of an existing office building, educating the contractors and subcontractors to weighing each and every piece of garbage.  This is not an accomplishment that is easy to achieve.

This meeting was also the last meeting of the Minneapolis Subchapter of the Midcontinent SIOR Chapter.  Beginning in January 2009, the Minneapolis Subchapter will become the Minnesota SIOR Chapter of SIOR which will include the Dakotas.  The MidContinent Chapter will continue to be called the MidContinent Chapter, but will now include Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming and Montana.
